Hi, welcome to our video series, “Why Prestige Martial Arts Is the Best Martial Arts School For Your Child”
My name is Shihan, and I’m the chief instructor here at Prestige Martial Arts. This was the question that was posed to us today by my coach, Mr. Horton, during our mastermind meeting. So as I was writing down answers and I came up with almost a full page of them, it suddenly dawned on me. I thought, wow, you probably don’t know any of these. But that’s not your fault. That’s my fault. So I’m going to fix that with this brand new video series that’s going to explain why Prestige Martial Arts is the best place for your child to be. So today, I want to cover the first three that came to mind right off the top of my head.
#1 – 21,000 Hours of Learning
I have over 21,000 hours of teaching experience with children. I spent 21,000 hours in the classroom working with kids over the past 30 years, and that’s given me a special eye on how to work with kids, how kids learn, and how to be best able to help them in the way that they are going to understand.
#2 – I LIVE Teaching Children
I do this full-time plus. There are a lot of programs that are taught maybe once or twice a week, and those are generally at community centers or maybe a church. Then most karate schools, the instructor has something else that they do during the day. And so they have a full-time job, and then they come and teach at night. Well, not me. I wake up karate. I come to teach karate. I go home and work on karate. And I go to sleep thinking about karate.
#3 – Constant and Never Ending Improvement
Being full-time plus means when I’m not teaching, I’m working on child development aspects. I’m either studying child psychology, working on the syllabus for classes and how to make them more engaging and more fun for the kids, or working on making myself a better teacher. And or maybe I’m working on the leadership team members and getting them to become better leaders. Everything I do revolves around improving the student experience here each and every day. So this isn’t just a general activity or sport. I’m studying chemistry, and I’m studying psychology and brain things like how dopamine and oxytocin and serotonin, the endorphins, and all those chemicals in your brain get kids excited. So like when they play video games, how can I bring that experience here into the karate classes? We also work on things like goal setting and public speaking, the number one fear that every American has. I work on how I could reach your child specifically, as opposed to just kind of a general system.
That’s basically like the education system. When your child goes to school, they’re expected to fit in that square and learn like a square. But what if they’re a triangle, or what if they’re a circle? I work on all three modes of learning capabilities in order to help all students excel, whether they’re a square, triangle, circle, or any other shape. You see, some kids are visual, some kids are auditory, and some kids are kinesthetic. That means that they have to actually physically move in order to learn what it is that they’re doing. It’s my responsibility to learn how each child learns and reach them in the way that’s best for them. Not to teach in one method and expect everybody to learn the way that I’m teaching. And that’s a huge difference between your local community center and or your part-time karate school.
Those are the first three reasons why Prestige Martial Arts is the best place for your child to be. Guess what? There’s a bunch more that I’ll be covering in upcoming videos.
